Pesticides
City & Guilds Pesticide Qualifications cover plant protection products – these include insecticides, fungicides and herbicides. If your job involves applying pesticides in a commercial role then you are legally required by the Plant Protection Products (Sustainable Use) Regulations (2012) to have achieved a Certificate of Competence in the method of application you are using. The suite of Licence to Practice qualifications meet the standards set by the United Kingdom (UK) Pesticides National Action Plan (NAP) 2025 and the Official Controls (Plant Protection Products) Regulations 2020. A range of CPD Refresher Modules is also available, under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER), refresher training is recommended every 2–5 years.
Pre-requisites: The Level 2 Award in the Principles of Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides (PA1) must be achieved prior to undertaking any other Pesticide qualification. This can be the City & Guilds award or the equivalent through another awarding body. Certification evidence must be provided to us prior to registration. Please note - a training attendance certificate is not a qualification.
